A representative sampling of Ms. LaTourette’s experience is as follows:

Guardianships
  • Appointed by the Court to represent minors’ interests in over 300 guardianship matters in both Riverside and San Bernardino Counties
  • Successfully represented minors’ interests in visitation disputes and reached satisfactory resolutions in a majority of cases prior to trial
  • Conducted numerous informal mediations to assist parties in resolving guardianship disputes such as appointment of a guardian, termination of a guardianship, and visitation issues
  • Represented minors in establishing blocked accounts to protect assets
  • Represented minors in reviewing portfolio and accounting regarding investment accounts for proceeds from multi-million dollar lawsuit against a public utilities company
  • Appointed Guardian ad Litem for minors in diverse matters to determine best interest
Conservatorships
  • Appointed by the Court to represent individuals with special needs in establishing Limited Conservatorships of the Person in both Riverside and San Bernardino Counties
  • Advocated on behalf of individuals with special needs to retain their rights to make decisions regarding their dwelling or residence, access confidential records, consent to marry, make medical decisions, make decisions regarding their education, make decisions regarding their social and sexual contacts, and retaining their right to contract
  • Advocated on behalf of individuals with special needs to protect their rights and seek reparations from conservators
  • Advocated on behalf of individuals with special needs to terminate limited conservatorships or to expand and restore individual rights and freedoms
  • Represented individuals with special needs to determine appropriateness and establishment of Special Needs Trusts to enhance their care, maintenance, and support
  • Appointed by the Court to represent the elderly in establishing Conservatorships of the Person and Estate in both Riverside and San Bernardino Counties
  • Advocated on behalf of the elderly in conservatorship proceedings to protect their rights to make medical decisions, to prevent placement in a secured facility, and to prevent administration of psychotropic medication
  • Conducted numerous informal mediations to ensure that elderly clients have regular visitation with family members and friends and that access is not restricted
  • Successfully represented elderly clients in preventing establishment of unnecessary conservatorships and working to determine and implement the least restrictive alternative for their care
  • Represented and worked closely with multiple high-profile clients in protecting their privacy and advocating on their behalf to protect their rights to live independently
  • Represented conservatees in matters involving a surcharge against individuals who misused funds or asserted undue influence
Estate Planning
  • Prepared multiple estate plans and drafted documents pertaining to Revocable Trusts, Wills, Advance Healthcare Directives, and Durable Powers of Attorney
  • Worked with individuals and advised on optimal estate planning options to suit their needs and execute their wishes
